  • Wake up by 6am

  • Drive to the ranch

  • Be out by the shop at 7:45 to begin morning chores

  • Feed the calf abandoned by its mother milk

  • Change the water in all the cattle drinking throughs

  • In the corral near the shop feed fresh hay to the heifers that have recently given birth to calves

  • Take the tractor out to the field with a fresh hay bale to feed the herd

  • Take a break for breakfast in the staff lunch room

  • Continue the rest of the day with repairs to equipment and other similar chores

  • Remove the porcupine quills from farm dog Bruce's face for the tenth time. He never learns!

  • 7pm rolls around and the sun is almost set. You head back to your lodgings in Hanna

  • You repeat a similar routine Monday to Friday. With taking turns with other ranch hands on weekends to feed the animals.
